GENEVA, NY- The Red Wings' home opener had no shortage of runs to open up play at McDonough Park for the 2025 season. The Red Wings and Pilots combined for a total of 18 runs on 19 hits.

Redshirt freshman Zach Banks led the way for the Red Wings as the designated hitter. The Daytona Beach, Florida, native went 2-3 on the night, scoring 3 of the Red Wings' 5 runs and adding an RBI to his season total. Banks helped tie the game 1-1 early on a Sam Fleming single in the 1st inning of action.
The 3rd inning again featured Banks involved in the scoring, as it was his single that drove home Shortstop Jaden Madrid. Banks would score his 3rd and final run of the game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 5th inning to bring the Red Wings within two.
However, the Red Wings would fail to score another run for the rest of the game and fall to the rival Newark Pilots, resulting in a 0-2 start to the 2025 season. The Red Wings' next game is on the road against the Auburn Doubledays at Falcon Park with a 6:30 PM start. They return home the following day to take on the Jamestown Tarp Skunks at McDonough Park, with a 6:30 PM first pitch time.
