A Win on the Road for the Geneva Red Wings!

The Geneva Redwings defeated the Jamestown Jammers 9-1 on the road on Saturday night to grab their second win in as many ballgames.

Alex Bellardini (1-0, Youngstown State) provided the second consecutive quality start for the Wings. The starter went 7.0 innings, scattering 9 hits, striking out 4, and giving up a lone run. Reliever Domenic Nardone (Siena College) closed out the ballgame for the Wings on the mound, keeping Geneva’s early season bullpen ERA at 0.00.

The Red Wings scored an unearned run in the top of the 3rd to draw first blood. The Jammers would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the 4th. Geneva scored three in the top of the 6th inning, courtesy of an RBI double by Will Simoneit (Cornell University), an RBI ground out from Garrett Uhl (UT Dallas), and an RBI single by Matt Chamberlain (New Haven University).

The Wings would tack on four in the eighth and one more in the 9th to eventually win the ballgame by a final score of 9-1. Joseph Tassin (Bossier Paris C.C.) and Matt Chamberlain would both finish the contest with a pair of RBIs.

The Red Wings (2-0) will finish their first weekend set of the 2017 summer season at home against the Onondaga Flames on Sunday. The first pitch at McDonough Park is scheduled for 4:05 P.M., and Jordan Murphy (UT Dallas) is slated to be the starting pitcher.
