Opening Day at McDonough Park

The 2019 season kicked off with a bang – just not the kind we wanted! The Geneva Red Wings opening day saw the largest crowds in years at McDonough Park ready to cheer on their Wings to victory. The parking lot was packed and the crowd was cheering while Geneva took an early lead over the visiting Newark Pilots.

Then the bang –the thunder and lightning along with the rain. The fans stayed around hoping the game would resume but mother nature had another thing in mind and it rained harder. The game was suspended with Geneva up over Newark 4-1. The date of the make up game will be announced in the future.

McDonough Park will be getting our new scoreboard up later this week. The Red Wings Team Store has been moved to the concession stand to better serve our guests.

Come join us for our next home game on Tuesday June 4th as we take on the Elmira Pioneers. Come out before the game and get $2 hotdogs until the first pitch! Join us for dinner and then stay for some great summer baseball – as long as mother nature cooperates!
