Red Wings fall to Pioneers 11-1

The Geneva Red Wings struggled to find a way to shut down the Elmira Pioneers on Sunday as they gave up a run in all but one inning. Geneva also struggled at the plate, only getting five hits the entire game.

In the first inning, singles by Brody Moore and Trae Harmon knocked in a run each for an early Pioneers lead.  Nathan Peng’s single in the 2nd made it a 3-0 game.

The Wings’ only run of the game came in the bottom of the 2nd when Daniel Sperling singled to bring home Harrison Treble.

In the 4th, a solo home run by Andrew Sexton made it a three-run game.

A single by Trevor Henneman in the 5th, Bryce Moskiewicz in the 6th and Moore in the 7th made it a 7-1 game.

In the 8th, Nathan Peng scored on a wild pitch. The Pioneers continued their rout with three more runs in the 9th. It started with Sexton scoring on a pass ball. Harmon then singled to score two more as it was 11-1 Pioneers.

The Wings are on the road for two games before returning home on Thursday to take on the Adirondack Trail Blazers in a doubleheader with first game at 5:05 pm.
