Red Wings Rout Pioneers 16-2

The Geneva Red Wings’ came out hot on Friday night as they put on an offensive show in a 16-2 win over the Elmira Pioneers.

It started in the 1st inning with a two-RBI single by Harrison Treble to make it 2-0.

Geneva’s 2nd inning was an offensive surge as they put up eight runs. Trae Yunger began the scoring with a two-RBI-double to left field. A few batters later, a single by Kross Grundy would knock in two more, making it 6-0 Red Wings.

Harrison Treble then hit a double to score Trevor Rogers. A sacrifice fly by Daniel Sperling, followed by a Josh Lester double, would expand the lead even more.  Brainy Rojas then reached on an error that scored another run, as it would be 10-0 Geneva after the 2nd inning.

In the 5th, Trevor Rogers reached on an error that knocked in one more for an 11-0 Geneva lead.

Elmira would finally get on the board in the 6th as Bryce Moskiewicz grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Zach Turner.

In the bottom half of the inning, Lester would score on a wild pitch making it 12-1 Red Wings.

Geneva would have another multiple-run inning in the 7th. It started with a solo home run by Brandon Cooper. A few batters later, Lester hit a double to bring home Grundy, as Geneva took a 14-1 lead.

Brennan Chisholm then walked in a run after being hit by a pitch. Next, a sacrifice fly by Brainy Rojas made it a 15 run game.

Elmira would get one more in the top of the 9th, as Trae Harmon hit a sacrifice fly to score Preston Moore, making it a 16-2 game and that is how it would end.

Geneva’s next game is at Watertown on Saturday.
