Introducing: Nick Serce
The Geneva Red Wings would like to welcome back Irondequoit native, Nick Serce.
Nick spent the summer of 2021 with Geneva where he played two positions mostly, pitcher and first basemen. It was Nicks pitching in particular that helped Geneva get to and enjoy some success in the playoffs.
Nick grew up in Irondequoit, NY as an only child. As most kids are, he was quite young when he found his love for baseball, adding that it was the competitiveness and the camaraderie that drew him to the game. However it wasn’t just baseball that he loved, Nick was a successful athlete in high school in wrestling and football. Nick played a big part in getting Irondequcit High School to achieve a sectional championship amongst other accolades.
He then graduated and moved on to Alfred where he is currently a junior and remains loyal to baseball. As mentioned, Nick was an only child and as such, he got a lot of family support when it came to his sports endeavors. None more so than from his father and his uncle. He insists that he wouldn’t be the man he is, hardworking and disciplined, without his father. As for his late uncle, Nick shared an unbelievable special bond with him. Nick always felt special because his uncle attended nearly every game he played. To this day, Nick pays tribute to this special man by tracing his initials on the mound at the start of every game he pitches.
Being the hardworking and committed athlete that he is, Nick doesn’t have much time at all to unwind. His schedule is usually school, homework, and then baseball activities. On the rare chance he does have free time, he really enjoys the movie Moneyball. A favorite also amongst many of his Geneva teammates.
Geneva welcomes Nick back for another summer season of phenomenal pitching. Come down to the ball park and see this hard throwing young man throw it by all opponents.
