FOGG AND FIERY RED WINGS SOAR PAST THE PIOS

Geneva jumped on the Pios quickly, getting out to a 3-0 lead in just the 2nd inning. Some mistakes by Elmira allowed Aiken Santana to reach home safely before some trickery from the Red Wings brought home JD Robinson, who singled earlier in the 2nd to help Jack Turner come up safely.

Elmira would come back to tie the game at 3 in the 4th, before Geneva answered back with a 2-run 5th inning. A Dylan Briggs double would help Michael Ucci and Jaden Madrid increase the Geneva lead to 2 runs.

Some 8th inning chaos would find Zach Banks crossing the plate thanks to a Chase Fogg hit to centerfield to provide the Red Wings with one last insurance run to close out a 6-3 victory over the Pios. A strong relief appearance from Michael Sardou would help shut down the Pioneers' offense. Sardou went 2.1 innings and did not allow a run, while only giving up a single hit. Sardou was named the winning pitcher after the game and also notched his first strikeout of the season.

The Red Wings return home to McDonough Park for another two-game homestand. First Responders Night is June 28th with a first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm against the Auburn Doubledays. Be sure to order your tickets today at GenevaRedWings.com or simply stop by the gate on gameday.
