Game one of two saw starting pitcher Jake Short lead the way with 4 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Short allowed just 3 runs and managed to hold the Pilots' offense in check long enough for the Red Wings' bats to get hot on the offensive end. In game one, the difference would be a Zach Banks solo home run in the top of the 4th inning. Banks’ solo shot would also open up the scoring for Geneva and give them an early 1-0 lead. While Newark would quickly match the Red Wings' scoring and take a 3-1 lead, Geneva would come up big in the 6th inning. A Dylan Briggs single would score 2 for Geneva, who would come away with a 4-3 victory in game one.

Heading into game two, the Red Wings would look to keep the momentum on their side and leave Newark with two under their belt. The pitching by the Red Wings would again be a highlight with Malachi Morgan and Cole Litman combining for 5 strikeouts across 6.1 innings. Anthony Barton would come in and close it out for the Red Wings in the bottom of the 7th.

The Red Wings had some very hot bats in game two, with the offense coming away with 11 runs on 11 hits. Zach Banks, Tyler Skaggs, and Dylan Wolfson would all have 2 hits apiece. Wolfson and Banks combined for 4 of the Red Wings' 5 RBIs in game two. Eight totally Red Wings would add a hit to the team’s offensive efforts in their 11-5 win over the Pilots.

Starting catcher Tyler Skaggs would be perfect on the offensive end, going 2-2 with 3 runs, a stolen base, and 2 walks to help lead the Red Wings' offense.

The Red Wings have a two-game home stand this Wednesday and Thursday, as they take on the Niagara Falls Americans and the Auburn Doubledays. Both games are scheduled for a 6:30 pm start at McDonough Park.
