PILOTS GET THE BEST OF GENEVA AT MCDONOUGH

GENEVA, NY- The Red Wings' weekend ended at McDonough Park against their rivals, the Newark Pilots, on Sunday night.

The Pilots got out to a blazing hot start, going up 10-3 heading into the 3rd inning. The Red Wings would keep fighting back, scoring 2 runs throughout the next two innings and shutting down the Pilots' bats for 4 straight innings. In relief, Kannon VanDuzer went 4.1 innings without allowing a single run. VanDuzder added 2 strikeouts and only gave up 4 hits.
The offense for the Red Wings proved consistent early on, scoring one or more runs in five of the first six innings. Multiple Red Wings had a multi-hit day. Jaden Madrid, Dylan Briggs, and Elijiah Benton all added 2 hits to the Red Wings' total. Briggs was able to pick up 2 RBIs, and Benton and Madrid added one each. The leadoff man, Michael Sardou, added 2 runs and a hit on the day for the Wings.
However, for the Red Wings, the closest they would get to a comeback would be 10-7 heading into the 7th inning. The Pilots would tack on 4 more runs to seal the Red Wings’ fate.
The Red Wings have the day off on Monday, but return home to McDonough Park to take on the Auburn Doubledays at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 1st.
