ELMIRA, NY- After being rained out the night before, the Red Wings traveled to Elmira yet again to take on the Pioneers, seeking some redemption for the games prior.

The Pioneers took an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. Both teams would be led by exceptional pitching performances from their starters. Geneva’s Dawson Thomas led the way for the Red Wings with 7 strikeouts in 5 innings, only giving up 2 runs early in the 1st inning. Ian Babey would come in relief of Thomas and add to the outstanding pitching, only giving up 1 run and adding a strikeout on the day, while allowing just 2 hits across 3 innings.
The offense would come on later in the game for the Red Wings, who scored 2 runs in the 7th inning to make things close. Aiken Santana led the way offensively, going a perfect 3-3 on the day and adding a walk. Collin Clark would add 2 RBIs for the Red Wings on a single to left field to bring Casey Burcroff and Dylan Briggs home safe.
The top of the 9th inning would become the Red Wings' final chance to come back and take the lead. A Casey Burcroff single, Aiken Santana walk, and Christian Bermudez hit by pitch would load the bases for the Red Wings, but with two outs, Collin Clark could not add to his RBI total, and the Red Wings would fall short.
The Red Wings return home to take on the Auburn Doubledays at 6:30 pm tomorrow and hit the road the following day to face Auburn at Falcon Park. Be sure to order your tickets today at GenevaRedWings.com or simply stop by the gate on gameday.
